Scripture for today:
Ezekiel 36; Ezekiel 37; Psalm 110; Revelation 19
Scripture-My special verse today:
Ezekiel 36:25-29 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. 28 You will live in the land I gave your forefathers; you will be my people, and I will be your God. 29
Observation: I remember while working on my Doctorate and hearing Dr. Steve Lowe state that baptism was in the Old Testament. He said it was a ceremonial cleansing. I found it and it does echo baptism! Baptism is in essence a time of making clean and entering to us a new Spirit. Even though I was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Winston-Salem in 1969, it still was a time of cleansing and the new Spirit. We should never underestimate the power of a new life.
Application: What difference does a new Spirit make? People with the Spirit of God represent light not dark. They represent hope not despair. People with the Spirit of God bring joy not evil. Do I need to say more?.
Prayer: The water and the spirit are essential to the life of a believer. may I live as if I am led by the Spirit.
