Scripture for today:

Haggai 1; Haggai 2; Psalm 129; Luke 10

Scripture-My special verse today:

Haggai 1:4 “Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?”

Luke 10:41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but only one thing is needed.  Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Observation:

Haggai challenged the people in the way they were living.  Jesus challenged Martha over her concerns over her sister Mary.  Haggai could not believe the people cared so little for the temple.  Martha was concerned over her sister that she completely missed what her sister was experiencing.  Both these texts concern them themselves with being disconnected.

Application:

Why is it that so many people do not get the purpose of the church?  They think all the church wants is their money when in essence it is God’s anyway.  I feel like Haggai often in Denver with so many in their abundance.  The church is in a major competition with the culture.  Even those in the church get so preoccupied with staying busy that they miss it when the spirit moves.  Therefore, a disconnection occurs that causes them to feel empty.

Prayer:  Help me to always be connected to things that bring you glory!
