Scripture for today:

Esther 3-8; Luke 18

Scripture-My special verse today:

Esther 4:12 When Esther’s words were reported to Mordecai, 13 he sent back this answer: “Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. 14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?”

Observation: What a statement made by Mordecai to Queen Esther.  She had been promoted for a time as this to be queen to be able to make a difference in this plan to annihilate the Jews.  Esther had to go in the inner court no matter what it cost her.  The choice of saying nothing to the King was not an option.  We all seek to know our purpose and Esther knew hers this day.

Application: We all pray to be in God’s will but will respond when He tells us?  How could Esther keep quiet?  So many simply are indifferent to the Gospel today.  Their family has been committed in the past but today the new generation struggles to honor the teachings of Christ.  Esther listened to Mordecai by following his lead.  The younger generation desperately needs the older generation to lead them.  The whole story of Esther is how a young Jewish girl loses both parents and is exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon and is raised by her uncle Mordecai.  Through events of a beauty contest he guides her all the way to being Queen.

Prayer:  May I believe that I was born for such a time as this!

Scripture for today:

Esther 1; Esther 2; Psalm 150; Luke 17

Scripture-My special verse today:

Eshter 2:21 During the time Mordecai was sitting at the king’s gate, Bigthana [b] and Teresh, two of the king’s officers who guarded the doorway, became angry and conspired to assassinate King Xerxes. 22 But Mordecai found out about the plot and told Queen Esther, who in turn reported it to the king, giving credit to Mordecai. 23 And when the report was investigated and found to be true, the two officials were hanged on a gallows. [c] All this was recorded in the book of the annals in the presence of the king.

Observation:

The providence of God is in play in this text.  We find, Esther, an exiled young woman from Israel, being made Queen of Babylon and nobody knows her origin.  Her beauty, God given, carried her all the way to the White House.  No I mean palace of King Xerxes.  Her position of Queen put her in places of influence.  Her uncle, Mordecai, gave her pertinent details of an assassination plot on the king.  The information was given to Esther and passed on to the king.  The information was true and men were hung.

Application:

No matter where we are promoted too as believers in our sphere of influence whether it is in our vocation or in our church or community we have an obligation to speak truth when information comes our way.  Esther thought she was put in place because of her looks but maybe God knew that when Mordecai brought her key information she would take it to the king when someone else would not.  My biggest fear is being in the wrong ministry or church and it not being where I am supposed to be.  The grass of other churches does not mean their ministries our better than what I have here at Denver United Methodist Church.  Every church in America has issues and every church has lots of potential!   Every church has issues because they are full of people and every church has potential because they are the BRIDE of Christ.

Prayer: Help to speak truth when information comes my way.
