Scripture for today:
Daniel 7; Daniel 8; Psalm 137; Luke 4
Scripture-My special verse today: Luke 4:13
13When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.
Observation:
This verse is a grin reality of what Satan does to test us. He offers us the world and with lots of flattery. He has a natural salesmanship to deceive people. However, we are warned of the power by this verse. we should not kid ourselves that Satan also offers us everything.
Application: The Bible states that we are to flee from temptation. Satan dresses up sin so well that we have to really decipher what is right and wrong. Satan is still the servant still posing the question “Did God really say?”
Prayer: Help to know when Satan is in the house!
Scripture for today:
Daniel 5; Daniel 6; Psalm 130; Luke 3
Scripture-My special verse today:
Daniel 6:4
4 At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. 5 Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.”
Observation: Daniel had such a clean record that the Administrators were clueless in how to find fault in him. Their efforts remind me of Jesus in how the religious leaders came up with weak accusations. This shows the extent of the level that evil plays in trying to destroy people for no reason at all.
Application: As I try to live for God and keep my motives pure, their are those that seek to destroy me. Politicians are seeking in the fall of 2008 to bring down there opponents with false accusations. These verses challenge me in my longing to serve Christ it has its opponents waiting for the opportune moment.
Prayer: Make sure my motives for serving Christ come from Christ not my ambitions.
Scripture for today:
Daniel 1-2 ; Revelation 16
Scripture-My special verse today:
Daniel 1:8 “But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.”
Observation: This passage is an incredible witness to Almighty God. How could an exile gifted Jew have the guts to be so strong in the faith that he refused to eat the king’s food? We have slogans today that say “Just Say No.” But, without convictions this slogan means peanuts. Daniel refused to Say No because of his convictions in not being corrupted by the culture. Notice he did not whine but just refused. No matter the consequences.
Application: Why can’t more Christians say no? Saying no requires guts. Daniel could have very well been put to death for his refusal to eat the king’s food. But, he stood on principal. Our culture goes with the popular opinion which is the road most traveled. Christians are in ruts because they go down roads that they have no business being on. If we could just refuse the things of the world that God distastes, his presence in our hearts would be manifested to a new level.
Prayer: Help me to “Just Say No” in the midst of a culture enticing me everything!
